Screening Process

Individuals applying for state and federal housing programs are subject to background screening. The screening includes a credit check, criminal background check, landlord references and/or personal references.

Applicants for Congregate housing are also asked to attend a Placement Interview admistered by our management team and a registered nurse to ensure that the needs of the individual are not beyond the parameters of our Congregate Living Facility.

The waiting list for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is currently CLOSED. However, we are accepting applications for the Public Housing Program and the Pitkat Congregate Living Center. Please review the details of each program to see if you or your family qualify. Be advised that all housing sites under the Vernon Housing Authority are subject to a waiting list at this time.
