"Comfortable Congregate Housing at an Affordable Price"

Our goal is to help our residents with the little things so they can maintain their independence while feeling safe and comfortable in their own self-sufficient apartment. The Francis J Pitkat Congregate Living Center is a state-funded two-story building with 44 individual apartments and equipped with an elevator.

The eligibility requirements to reside at our Congregate facility are:

  1. applicants must be 62 years of age or older
  2. applicants must be income-eligible
  3. applicants are subject to our "screening" process

Affordable

  • All rent and services based on income
  • Heat, hot water, cold water, electricity and basic cable included in rent

The Facility & Dwelling Units

  • Spacious, secure, private dwelling units
  • Emergency call-for-aid system in each unit
  • Each unit equipped with a stove and refrigerator
  • On-site laundry
  • Library, Sunroom & Activity room with computers
  • Sprinklers, fire alarm and smoke detector systems
  • Lighted parking lot
  • Supermarket and pharmacy nearby

Congregate Services

  • Main meal prepared on site and served daily
  • Light housekeeping services
  • 24-hour administrative on-site staffing
  • Resident Service Coordinator
  • Daily Activities: Bingo, crafts, movies, cards, board games, puzzles, musical entertainment, the Wii™ Entertainment System

The waiting list for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is currently CLOSED. However, we are accepting applications for the Public Housing Program and the Pitkat Congregate Living Center. Please review the details of each program to see if you or your family qualify. Be advised that all housing sites under the Vernon Housing Authority are subject to a waiting list at this time.
